An explosion-proof air conditioner is a specialized HVAC unit designed for hazardous environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts are present (e.g., petrochemical plants, gas stations, paint booths, pharmaceutical labs).

The most critical difference from a standard air conditioner lies in “active ignition prevention.” Standard units generate tiny sparks during normal operation – such as when relays open/close, compressors start/stop, or circuits make/break.
